Residents of Ottawa and communities across Ontario are banging pots and pans at home and in the streets in a time-honoured tradition of protest every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Have fun with family and neighbours for a few minutes and keep the pressure on Queens Park to drop Bill 23 which, under the false guise of “more housing,” instead:
- Cuts costs to developers and downloads those costs (estimated at $60 million) to Ottawa taxpayers
- Removes green building requirements, opens greenspace and farm land to development and constrains the environmental oversight of Conservation Authorities
- Guts affordable housing policies
Bill 39, the “Strong Mayor” bill allows a one-third minority to pass motions at city council.
